Luke Thompson (rugby union)
Luke Thompson (ルーク・トンプソン, Rūku Tonpuson?) (born Christchurch, 16 April 1981) is a New Zealand-born Japanese rugby union player. He plays as a lock.
Thompson's current club is Kintetsu Liners based in Osaka. He also plays for the Japan national rugby union team.
He currently holds 34 caps for Japan, with 7 tries scored, 35 points in aggregate, since his first match, in 2007. He was present at the 2007 Rugby World Cup, playing three matches and scoring 2 tries, 10 points in aggregate. Thompson obtained Japanese citizenship in July 2011, a month before the 2011 Rugby World Cup.
